Large-scale multi-touch hardware designer and producer Ideum has teamed up with the Touch Systems division of 3M to launch the Platform 46 range of Windows 8 multi-touch tables. Both the standing-height table and the coffee table feature a 46-inch, bezel-free, 1920 x 1080 resolution LCD display panel and a powerful integrated computer system. Asus has unveiled the next step in the evolution of the hybrid note/tablet at the company's "We Transform" press event at Computex 2013 in Taipei, Taiwan. In addition to two CPUs and dual operating systems, the Transformer Book Trio adds a powerful desktop element to the mix. NVIDIA unveils "Project Shield" portable console
Although the upper surface of the Ideum multitouch table we covered back in November 2009 measured 100 inches diagonally, only 86 inches were viewable. New system detects touch and hand gestures on any surface
The world may not be your oyster, but thanks to technology being developed at Indiana’s Purdue University, it may soon be your multi-touch screen. Researchers at that institution have created an “extended multitouch” system, that consists of a computer, video projector, and Kinect camera – the technology allows any surface to be transformed into a touchscreen interface, that can track multiple hands simultaneously. UK-based Engage Production has just stacked 24 MultiTaction Cell displays in the new "Executive Brand Suite" of an un-named City of London client to create the world's largest multi-touch interactive wall. Measuring some 9.9 x 3 m (32.48 x 9.84 ft), including the base, the monster installation's separate screens function as one huge touch display, capable of tracking and registering an unlimited number of simultaneous touch points.
