Mercedes-Benz to premiere new diesel engine family in new E-Class

Mercedes-Benz continues to drip feed details of its upcoming E-Class ahead of the vehicle's launch in the Northern Hemisphere spring. Having already revealed some of the car's semi-autonomous features and interior design, Mercedes has announced it will premiere a new four-cylinder diesel engine in the new E-Class E 220 d, marking the launch of a family of all-aluminum four cylinder engines that will proliferate throughout Mercedes' lineup of cars and vans in various outputs and in both longitudinal and transverse configurations.

Mercedes turns the Sprinter into a mean, green Extreme dump truck

A few weeks ago, we looked at one of the cooler uses of a Mercedes Sprinter chassis in the Hymer Van S. As it happens, Mercedes has some pretty cool ideas of its own. Billed as the "ultimate work machine," the Sprinter Extreme Concept boasts serious hauling capabilities and a bright neon paint job. Whereas something like the Brabus Business Lounge is the ultimate Sprinter for white collars, the Extreme might just be the ultimate Sprinter for blue collars.

When Mercedes Benz introduced the SLK in 1996, it met with positive reaction and went on to sell over 670,000 units. Twenty years is a long time to go between major updates in any business, but the wait appears to be worth it given all of the changes to the German company's signature roadster that will now be called the SLC.
