Mercedes makes the G500 4x4 Squared official

When Mercedes introduced the bold, imposing G500 4x4 Squared at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, it said it would consider production based upon the reaction it received. Well, the reaction was good, and Mercedes is pressing ahead with production. The company announced last week that the jacked-up G-Class will join the ranks of the other 2016 G-Class members at Mercedes dealerships ... priced at well over double the standard G500.

The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este and the accompanying Villa Erba auction put on yet another spectacular show at the weekend, with 11 cars selling for more than a million dollars, 34 of the 39 lots on offer sold, and an average sale price of $880,000 per car. Six "million dollar cars" sold at Bonhams' Mercedes-Benz Museum Stuttgart auction

The full glory of the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star was on display at Bonhams' second annual classic car auction for the marque in Stuttgart on the weekend. Held at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, six individual cars sold for more than a million dollars, with the highlights being a 1931 model 770 Cabriolet D which sold for EUR€2,311,500 (US$2,516,987), a 1938 540 K Cabriolet A which sold for EUR€2,760,000 (US$3,005,357) and a fully-functioning 115-year-old Benz Ideal Vis-a-Vis Motor Carriage which fetched EUR€212,750 (US$231,663).
