Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing have launched their latest collaboration at the Miami International Boat Show. The 38-foot Top Gun Cigarette Racing hull is powered by an AMG electric drive pumping out 2,220 horsepower (1,656 kW) and 2,210 ft-lb (3,000 Nm) of torque for a top speed in excess of 100 mph (160 km/h or over 86 knots). The electrics are taken nearly whole from the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive – the world's fastest and most powerful production electric car. Read More
Mercedes-AMG enters compact class with the A 45 AMG
Mercedes has thrown the wraps off the A 45 AMG ahead of its global premiere at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The hot-hatch marks the first time Mercedes’ performance division has released a vehicle in the compact class in its 45-year history. And its first effort doesn’t pull many punches, with a 2.0-liter engine that Mercedes touts as the most powerful series production four-cylinder engine in the world. Read More

The best of the rest: 2013 Detroit Auto Show round-up
This year's North American International Auto Show was full of compelling auto stories, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Mercedes CLA among the most intriguing. In addition to the big debuts, the show was stocked with plenty of other glistening fiberglass and aluminum conveyances that, while they didn't quite make our best of Detroit coverage, did smile brightly in front of the camera. The traffic sign assistance system currently offered in Mercedes-Benz’s S- and E-Class models uses a camera mounted on the inside of the front windscreen to identify speed restriction signs. This speed restriction information is relayed to the navigation system and displayed in the instrument cluster and in the map view to help prevent drivers exceeding the speed limit. Mercedes has now updated the system to also recognize no-overtaking zones and no-entry signs so as to prevent drivers from accidentally traveling in the wrong direction. Read More
