Panasonic has revealed its latest GF Series camera, the LUMIX DMC-GF6. Two years after unveiling the LUMIX DMC-GH2 at Photokina 2010, Panasonic has pulled back the curtains on its new flagship digital single lens mirrorless camera. As you might expect, given the elapsed time since the release of the GH2, the new LUMIX DMC-GH3 offers significant improvements over its predecessor. Panasonic has recently announced a selection of six new cameras for 2012, with the compact for enthusiasts, the LX7, and the mirrorless G5 being the most news-worthy. The LX7 (which replaces the LX5) boasts an F1.4 maximum aperture and a newly designed 10.1-megapixel MOS sensor, while the G5 (replacing the G3) has a 16.05-megapixel Live MOS sensor and an ISO range of up to 12,800.  Read More

There has been quite a bit of pre-announcement discussion about what kind of features might be added to Panasonic's latest member of its LUMIX G Series of Micro Four Thirds digital cameras. As it transpired, the new LUMIX DMC-GF5 interchangeable lens camera was not the marked improvement on last year's GF3 that we'd hoped it would be. Panasonic has announced a new addition to its LUMIX family, the 3D1 compact camera. It's a point-and-shoot snapper featuring a couple of 25mm ultra-wide-angle lenses, that allow users to shoot both stills and videos in 3D. Panasonic continues to expand its super-zoom LUMIX FZ-Series with the LUMIX DMC-FZ150 appearing hot on the heels of the DMC-FZ47. Taking the title of the flagship of the FZ series, the FZ150 packs a 24x optical zoom (25-600mm equivalent) along with a 25mm ultra wide-angle Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens. The camera also features a new 3D photo mode that automatically selects the two most suitable images from 20 panning shots to synthesize a 3D composite image.  Read More

Panasonic has added another superzoom to its FZ-series camera range. The LUMIX DMC-FZ47 features a 25 - 600 mm equivalent zoom lens with a special coating that's claimed to reduce ghost and flare, and a brand new sensor capable of recording 1080/60i high definition video. Panasonic has added to its ever growing – yet ever shrinking – stable of Lumix Micro Four Thirds cameras with what it claims is the world’s smallest and lightest digital interchangeable lens camera with a built-in flash. The new DMC-GF3 is 16.7 percent smaller and 16.2 percent lighter than its predecessor, the DMC-GF2, which was itself 19 percent smaller and seven percent lighter than the preceding DMC-GF1. The GF3’s size and weight reductions are largely thanks to the elimination of an optical viewfinder and mirror-box, which also means there’s no electronic viewfinder.  Read More
