There has been a lot of pondering about exactly which niche the tablet PC will fit into in today's tech-centric mobile world. At this year's CES trade show in Las Vegas, Lenovo hopes to answer many of those questions by merging the familiarity of a laptop and the convenience and portability of a tablet PC into one package. ASUS unveils three futuristic Waveface products at CES

ASUS – once known mostly as a motherboard manufacturer – has chosen CES 2010 to introduce some innovative laptops and futuristic concepts. Not content with showcasing a laptop designed in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen’s chief designer, it has also introduced three Waveface design concepts. The range includes a portable device worn on the wrist, a widescreen display that is both an entertainment center and internet portal and a touch-sensitive machine that can be used as a single-screen tablet or conventional keyboard – all designed by ASUS to allow the user to fully embrace the digital life…perhaps even by using one’s own physiological and emotional state as a source of data. ASUS chairman Jonney Shih has introduced some of the company's latest designs at CES 2010 and a noteworthy inclusion was the ASUS NX90 Bang & Olufsen ICEpower notebook – a handsome and functional laptop which was designed in conjunction with Bang & Olufsen’s lead designer, David Lewis. The NX90 features a smooth, polished aluminum body and palm rest that coordinate perfectly with the sleek dark keyboard and dual touchpads – which together with the desktop software - are designed to be used much like a DJ’s mixing desk. The B&O ICEpower speakers sit either side of the high-definition flat screen and are designed to produce flawless surround-sound audio – this is definitely a laptop designed for the living room, not the home office. TeliaSonera launches 4G network in Norway and Sweden

Swedish telecommunications company TeliaSonera has launched the world’s first commercially available 4G mobile broadband network. While an international roll out of up to twenty five countries is planned in the next year, the network will initially be made available in the central parts of Stockholm and Oslo, and is designed to provide speeds up to 100Mbit/s - ten times faster than those of the existing 3G networks. Dell Vostro V13 small business laptop targets 'mobile entrepreneurs'

Dell has added to its Vostro range with the V13 small business laptop that, at 13.3 inches, is billed as a convenient size between a netbook and a full-size notebook. Dell says that while this new-size laptop might be lighter, it’s still a heavyweight when it comes to laptop grunt. The company is targeting this new computer at “mobile entrepreneurs”. Dell has bettered its wafer-thin Adamo laptop launched in March with the announcement of the 0.4-inch (9.99mm) thin Adamo XPS. Apart from the attention that the label of World's thinnest laptop brings, the XPS has some very appealing design qualities that are nothing to do with its slender profile or 3.2 pound weight. Rather than the conventional hinge, the full-size keyboard folds into the display in such a way that it's raised at the top when it's opened to provide enhanced cooling and there's also a capacitive touch latch mechanism which allows you to pop the unit open with the swipe of a finger. Dell continues to expand its Latitude range by revealing a 12.1-inch rugged convertible tablet PC with a multi-touch display - the Latitude XT2 XFR. The company says this PC is designed to meet the unique and demanding needs of customers in the military, police, border patrol, field service organizations, factory fulfilment and first responders.
