The Pill is a new speaker dock, designed specifically for the sixth-generation iPod nano

There are currently a plethora of speaker docking systems out there, for use with iPhones or classic iPods. There have been some solutions created specifically for previous generations of iPod nanos, such as the devices made by Green Power and Dexim, but the new sixth-generation nanos have a different form factor with different docking requirements. One of the companies responding to that change is Singapore’s Gavio, which recently launched a speaker dock designed specifically for the current incarnation of the nano. It’s called The Pill, although if you want to get technical, a more accurate name would have been The Capsule. Read More

Never go back to an iNuke Boom once it's shuffling (Image: Behringer)

If one had to describe Behringer's 10,000 W iNuke Boom dock for iPhones and iPods, it would not be big. That word does not begin to do it justice. The 700 pound dock is 8 feet wide, 4 feet tall and about as deep, and looks like the results of a crossbreeding experiment between a common or garden iPod dock and a monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Apart from shedding some bulk, the MiLi Pro v2.0 is largely identical to its predecessor

Maybe feeling that their original MiLi Pro pico projector wasn’t quite pico enough, MiLi has put the device under the surgeon’s knife and produced an updated model that has shed a few millimeters around the waist appropriately titled the MiLi Pro v2.0. Although it packs the same Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) LED projector producing 10 lumens and 640 x 480 pixel resolution found in its predecessor, the fan has been ditched, resulting in a unit that the company claims is almost 50 percent slimmer than the original and “perfectly silent.” Read More

In addition to docking an iDevice, the iTree is also compatible with a wireless LAN stream...

While you might be tempted to think the Wall of Sound is one of the biggest music player docks you've ever seen, it doesn't quite live up to the huge proportional potential of the iTree iPhone and iPod docking station from Austrian design house KMKG STUDIO. The dock is carved from a simple tree trunk, its rear-mounted speakers are pointed towards a wall to reflect the audio and the wood serves to resonate the sound in a similar fashion to a piano or violin. NuForce's Icon iDo takes the audio signal from an iPod, iPad or iPhone and converts it to ...

Having installed the very best hi-fi equipment in an acoustically optimized music room, the arrival of the mobile music player was perhaps of marginal interest to the dedicated audiophile. With its Icon iDo digital iDevice amp, however, California's NuForce may well persuade said audio junkies that its time to invest in one of Apple's portable entertainment centers. The iDo sneaks behind the scenes of the device soundstage and grabs the original audio data, runs it through its own 24-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and offers listeners audiophile-grade CD quality tunes via headphones or home hi-fi music system.
