Kawasaki Ninja H2R: Team Green retakes the mantle of 'wildest bike on two wheels'

Hype is so common these days, and the more something is hyped, the more we tend to expect to be disappointed. Not in this case. Kawasaki has been teasing its supercharged Ninja H2R for months now, and still, when the covers came off at Intermot Cologne today, every mind in the room exploded into tiny pieces. In a market where manufacturers are creeping towards 200-horsepower sport bikes, the track-only H2R will make a tendon-ripping 300 horsepower – considerably more than a MotoGP bike and enough to put the fear of God into just about any rider.  Read More

1290 Super Duke R prototype

The most exciting exhibit at either of the recent major international motorcycle shows (Intermot in Germany or EICMA in Italy) was the first showing of the KTM 1290 Superduke R prototype – a super-lightweight, trellis-framed, naked bike powered by a 1290cc version of the RC8R V-twin, complete with drive-by-wire, lots of (disengageable) electronic rider assistance, lashings of carbon fiber, new prototype WP suspension at both ends and the promise of a production version within 12 months. The Intermot motorcycle and bicycle fair rolled around in Cologne earlier this month with a lot of focus clearly beginning to shine on the area of electric bikes, scooters, bicycles and even smaller devices. Gizmag looks at the 10 kg Yikebike, the world's fastest electric scooter, Kawasaki's 210 bhp ZX10R, BMW's six cylinder masterpiece, Horex's V6 and one of the most astounding engines we've yet seen - the Ducati 868cc V8 of German engineer Dieter Hartmann-Wirthwein. The layout of his engine (pictured) enables a compact four cylinder engine to be built on a single cylinder crankcase.  Read More
