We’ve seen a number of smart tables
from Ideum before, but the Duet brings something a little new, integrating both Windows 8 and Android computers into a single unit. The company has designed it to be easy to switch between the two operating systems, and the hardware itself is a rugged, multitouch affair.
Multi-touch hardware and software company Ideum
is exploring a potential future for the workplace in which traditional desks give way to projected capacitive touch (PCT) tables that you use with both hand gestures and tangible objects. New Mexico's Ideum
has managed to shave over an inch and a half off the thickness of its Platform 55 display in time for the infoComm 14 trade show being held in Las Vegas this week. The dual boot prototype is being shown off at the booth of development partner 3M Touch Systems.
When considering the use of Android smartphone apps on a bigger screen, many of us would probably think no larger than a tablet, or perhaps even an All-in-One

has announced that 4K versions of its 55-, 65- and 100-inch multitouch tables and interactive walls will start to ship from later this month
The computer interaction experts at Ideum have developed a number of impressive multi-touch smart tables in the past, such as the Platform 46
and the Pano Touch Table
, many of which were built around their proprietary GestureWorks software. Now the company is gearing up to release its GestureWorks Gameplay program, which is built around the same engine and allows any video game running on a Windows 8 device to be played with an on-screen touch controller.

Although the upper surface of the Ideum multitouch table
we covered back in November 2009 measured 100 inches diagonally, only 86 inches were viewable. Originally a custom offering, the Pano Touch Table sports a full 100 diagonal inches of HD multitouch goodness, can accommodate up to eight simultaneous users and includes an integrated computer workstation with a Core i7 processor, dual hard drives and lockable port access ... and it's now been added to the company's main catalog.
