Multi-touch hardware and software company Ideum is exploring a potential future for the workplace in which traditional desks give way to projected capacitive touch (PCT) tables that you use with both hand gestures and tangible objects. The project is called the Dynamic Desktop, and it's an idea that creative director and CEO Jim Spadaccini believes will work on any PCT screen.  Read More

When considering the use of Android smartphone apps on a bigger screen, many of us would probably think no larger than a tablet, or perhaps even an All-in-One. But what if you could play all your favorite games, update your social media profiles, or dive into productivity and lifestyle apps on a 46-inch multi-touch display? With the new Android version of the Platform 46 Coffee Table debuted by Ideum and 3M at the Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas yesterday, you can do just that.  Read More

Though made available for pre-order a few weeks later, the high resolution, monster cells won't actually go into production until later this year. Although the upper surface of the Ideum multitouch table we covered back in November 2009 measured 100 inches diagonally, only 86 inches were viewable. Originally a custom offering, the Pano Touch Table sports a full 100 diagonal inches of HD multitouch goodness, can accommodate up to eight simultaneous users and includes an integrated computer workstation with a Core i7 processor, dual hard drives and lockable port access ... and it's now been added to the company's main catalog.  Read More

Ideum's Platform multitouch table has scratch-resistant glass

While this week the web is full of talk about Microsoft's Surface tablet, it's less well known that that Microsoft originally used the name "Surface" for a prototype multitouch table. Ideum has announced the release of the MT65 Presenter - a professional level, 65-inch, 3D ...

At a whopping 234-diagonal-inches, the touchscreen display created by Microsoft and Stereolize for last year's CeBIT may well be the biggest we've seen but it's hardly practical (or cheap) enough for everyday use. If you're looking for something that won't require museum visitors or business customers to reach up way above their heads to even touch the screen, New Mexico's interactive exhibit veteran Ideum has announced the release of a new 65-inch wall-mounted multitouch display called the MT65 Presenter.  Read More
