AsusTek unveils the ESC 1000 - 1.1 teraflop ‘personal supercomputer’

Goodbye to the days when supercomputers had to fill a room and welcome Asus, purveyor of all things Eee and its first ever supercomputer - the ESC 1000. Produced in conjunction with NVIDIA and the National Chiao Tung university in Taiwan, the desktop-sized machine is capable of speeds up to a mighty 1.1 teraflops, which may pale in comparison to the petaflop Roadrunner, but then so does the footprint. Asus to release world’s cheapest eBook reader

Despite being around since the mid-nineties, eBooks have never really taken off and this is mainly down to the fact that eBook readers, which have been available for about a decade, have proven prohibitively expensive and barely more convenient than lugging around a couple paperbacks. Sony and BeBook have seen relative success in recent times, along with the Amazon Kindle, but a new competitor in the form of Asus could be set to breathe new life into the market. Read More

After months of eager anticipation, Taiwan's ASUS has finally confirmed the technical specifications for its solution for the space-conscious non-mobile computer user - the EeeTop 20/22 series. They'll be super fast full HD graphics on a touchscreen 20in or 22in screen, a built-in webcam, wireless keyboard and mouse and the option of a Blu-ray player and even more squeezed into one classy chassis. Less than two years ago, the arrival of a tiny, obscurely-named Asus laptop caused quite a stir. It was affordable, portable, and “good enough” to do most of the things people do with computers that cost several times as much. These small form factor laptops geared for web browsing and email usage have exploded into the marketplace since then, with seemingly every PC manufacturer adding at netbook to its lineup. Samsung’s latest N110 netbook claims 9.5 hour battery life

The netbook marketplace is getting more and more competitive and following hot on the heels of the recently released ASUS Eee PC 1000HE is Samsung’s latest entry into the market, the N110 mini notebook. The N110 boasts many of the features of the 1000HE including a 10.1-inch screen, 160GB HDD, 1GB of RAM and claims of up to 9.5 hours of battery life in a unit that is slightly thinner and lighter than its ASUS competitor.
