SpaceX has releasedstunning footage from a GoPro camera tumbling back to Earth following a recent Falcon 9 launch. The device, fitted in asection of composite fairing that separated from the launch vehiclesoon after lift-off, recorded breathtaking views of ourplanet.
When entire, thecomposite fairing which housed the GoPro measures 13.1m (43 ft) inheight, and 5.2m (17.1 ft) in diameter. It's plunge back towards earth is shown in real-time in the HD video below (accompanied by a soundtrack Kubrick made synonymous with mesmerizing space scenes – The Blue Danube).
A variation of the Falcon 9rocket will be used to transport astronauts to the International Space Station via thecompany's Crew Dragon spacecraft, which is scheduled to make itsfirst manned launch some time in 2017.
