Samsung has unveiled its second generation pocket camcorders, the HMX-U20 and HMX-U15. The follow up models to the HMX-U10 both feature 2” LCD screens and are able to capture 1920x1080 HD video at 30fps.The HMX-U20 offers the added extra of a 3x optical zoom.

Both slim-line units record to SDHC cards and house an integrated USB cable built into a swing out arm for convenient uploading. And while the HMX-U20 comes equipped with a 3x optical zoom and 10MP still image shooting, the cheaper HMX-U15 is without zoom but takes stills at 14MP.

As well as boasting Samsung’s ergonomic “seven degree angled grip” design, the units also offer simple editing options and recording modes such as time lapse from one to thirty seconds, one touch upload to YouTube and digital image stabilization.

The Samsung HMX-U15 is due for release in March priced at US$229.99, with the HMX-U20 set to be available in May for US$249.99.

The pricepoint is way too high...especially being a Samsung...

If they want to sell the thing, it needs to be under $200 which seems to be the sweetspot of personal recorders today!
