November 11, 2008 If there’s one complaint iPhone 3G users have it is the battery life, so it’s hardly surprising to see the first Apple certified “Works With iPhone” attached battery hit the market. The Mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 3G is a rechargeable lithium polymer battery in the form of a non-slip, soft grip case that is designed to more than double the battery life of your iPhone and protect it at the same time. It offers pass-through USB so the iPhone can be charged and synced with iTunes via the included USB cable without removing it from the Juice Pack.

The unit features Smart Battery Technology, which instructs the iPhone to always drain out the Juice Pack first, while the integrated LED status indicator lets you know just how much power is left. The Juice Pack comes fully charged out of the box and Mobie claims it will provide an extra 350 hours of standby time, 12 hours 2G talk time, 6 hours 3G talk time, 7 hours Wi-Fi Internet time, 28 hours audio playback and 8 hours video playback – surely enough for even the most iPhone addicted.

The Mobie Juice Pack is shipping now for USD$99.95.

The Mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 3G is nice but has some limitations. To update your Iphone you have to remove the Iphone from the Mophie case. The case fits so tightly that it is very hard to remove. In the romoval process you may break the ultra thin top piece at the top and side. A replacement top is availbale if this happens but upon orderinbg two of them I found neighter fit or would stay on the orginal lower half. If you have to replace a broken top I suggest you order a complete case. Overall it is nice to have a way to extend battery time on the Iphone.
