Parking is the cause of much stress in any major city around the world and New York is definitely no exception. The tiny island of Manhattan has a land area of just 22.96 square miles (59.47 km²) but is home to more than 1.5 million people. With limited space and residents needing somewhere to park their cars, one property developer is planning to take to the sky to accommodate residents.

200 Eleventh Avenue is a planned 19-story residential building in Chelsea on Manhattan's west side which will feature personal "sky garages" for residents’ cars. Dubbed “New York's first En-Suite Sky Garage”, the garages will allow occupants to enter and exit their apartments without coming into contact with other residents.

Owners access their garages via a street level door which leads to a key-lock car elevator. The elevator then transports the driver directly to a 300 square feet garage space adjoining their luxury apartment. Thinking about taking up residence in this chic urban fantasy? Apartment prices start in the low millions and work upwards from there. On the upside, your car will enjoy a full of living space all to itself.

A video animation of the planned garages in action can be viewed at the 200 Eleventh Avenue site.
