We're seeing more and more phones using the clamshell form factor, and considering the success of Motorola's most recent offering, the MOTORAZR, it's no surprise to see them release the MOTOKRZR - an update with plenty of functionality and the classic format crammed into a sleek 16mm x 42mm x 103mm shell that weighs 3.6 ounces.

They've managed to squeeze in a 2 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom - and you can edit the photos you've taken, and use them with the picture Caller ID function - a Gizmag favorite when used with a favorite photo of your significant other, your boss drunk at the Christmas party, or your friends asleep on the couch with the dog.

It'll pair with a Stereo Bluetooth Headset, for use with the now standard MP3/AAC player. A MicroSD slot provides expansion to a gigabyte of storage - around 10 albums in decent quality, which might not equal an iPod but it'll get you to work and back a few times without getting bored.

The contacts and calendar on the phone can be synced with your computer, and it's refreshing to see this kind of functionality in a device that doesn't look like the Starship Enterprise.

The MOTOKRZR has just been launched in the US and Australia, and will be available worldwide in coming weeks.
