This new product is part of Sakar's new Executive Men's Collection, known as Maximo Concepts. The device features dual system caller ID, supporting FSK/DTMF (frequency shift keying/dual-tone multi-frequency) communications. It’s not so much this product that we like, but the concept of utilising the mousepad and its by necessity arm’s-reach convenience for more than just a mouse pad surface – let’s face it, if you have a mousepad in front of you, the chances are there’s a computer not far away, so the inbuilt calculator and alarm clock inside the mousepad are a trifle redundant.

And a built-in phone book with memory for 110 entries is a bit limiting when it might for example, plug into a USB port and track your telephone usage. Then again, with VOIP likely to over-run fixed landlines in the next few years, the speaker phone option could be really handy.
The Mouse Pad Caller ID Speaker Phone remembers incoming calls and stores the phone numbers of up to 90 previous calls and the last eight outgoing numbers called.
At US$49.99 it isn’t going to break the bank. But if they charged say, $100 and tied in a few more options … the space-saving unit measures just 11 x 8 x 1 inches and weighs 400 grams.
