In many countries, the law requires young children to be fitted in age- and size-appropriate seating within a vehicle. In the UK, all children under 12 years old or 135cm in height must use a booster seat, so it’s important to have one on hand at all times. But sometimes these cumbersome devices get left at home or in the “other car”. BoostApak is, as the name suggests, a booster seat in a backpack, light enough for children to carry to a restaurant, cinema and, obviously, when traveling on a bus, taxi, plane or while carpooling.

The BoostApak by Trunki is hand-luggage approved for air travel, and eliminates the need to hire a car seat when renting a vehicle on holiday. The manufacturers say it’s ergonomically-designed to protect growing spines and encourages better posture. It also zips open to be easily filled with food, toys, or whatever else the kids need to keep them quiet!

BoostApak has a durable hard plastic outer shell and removable cover designed to make cleaning easy.

It has unique patented fold-out seat belt guides, hi-visibility horns and reflective trim and, importantly, is UK-certified to regulation ECE R44.04 for Group 2 and Group 3, which means it should be safe for use (but check with your local authority).

Suitable for ages 4 -11 years, it comes with an ID tag and will be available from spring, initially only in the UK. It will retail for £39.99 (approx. US$60).
