BabyPing recently announced the arrival of its new high security Wi-Fi baby monitoring system. The product will allow parents to hear and view their baby utilizing an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The system also features double-layer security that alerts parents if their baby cries, if the Wi-Fi connection drops out or if their iOS device is out of range. Read More

The Origami is a stroller that automatically folds itself up, with the push of a button

Appropriately enough called the Origami, the new baby product from 4moms is billed as “the world’s first power-folding stroller.” This means that it will fold itself down into a compact car-trunkable bundle, at the press of a button – another press gets it to open back up again. Evidently, however, that one feature just isn’t enough. It also has running lights and headlights, plus it will charge your cell phone. There’s no word yet on whether or not in can perform diaper changes. Read More

The BARE baby bottle is designed to better emulate the shape, texture and functionality of...

Although conventional baby bottles are designed to mimic a mother’s breast, if they could talk, most babies – like the World Health Organization – would probably tell you they are a pretty poor substitute for the real thing. Now a New York mom has designed a new type of baby bottle dubbed BARE that is claimed to better emulate a mother’s breast in terms of shape, texture and movement, as well as providing the air-free storage and delivery of milk for your bundle of joy. The Infant Warmer is a sleeping bag-like device that uses a phase-change material to keep ...

According to the medical journal The Lancet, approximately 20 million low birth-weight and premature babies are born around the world every year. Of those, about 4 million die within four weeks. Many of those deaths take place because the infants can’t maintain a high enough body temperature on their own, and succumb to hypothermia. Incubators are designed to address this problem, but many hospitals in developing nations can’t afford them, nor can they provide the uninterrupted power supply that the machines require. The San Francisco non-profit group Embrace, however, is developing what could be an effective and affordable alternative – the Infant Warmer. Read More

Seems not even babies are safe from the advances in wearable technology. Nowadays, unborn children can tweet or listen to music and fully-fledged infants can wear a suit that changes color when they have a fever. The latest wearable concept is the Exmobaby sleep suit – a baby garment designed to monitor a baby’s heart rate, emotional state and activity level and to wirelessly relay the information to a cell phone or PC. The Kickbee baby movement detector and tweeter

If our pets can now send tweets, then it only makes sense that our unborn children should be able to as well. The Kickbee is a prototype device that lets them do just that, even if they’re not aware that they’re doing it. It takes the form of an electronics-filled stretchable spandex band, which the pregnant mother wears over her bulging belly. When it detects movement underneath itself, the result is a Twitter update along the lines of “I kicked Mommy!” Read More

Holo lilo is perfectly shaped for a baby bump

Many women find it difficult to lie on their stomach comfortably when their baby bump starts to expand - I have a beach-loving friend who dug holes in the sand to pop her pregnant tummy in. She would have loved the Holo – it’s an air mattress with a hole for your expanding stomach and you can use it to get comfy in the pool, at the beach, while watching television or when getting a well-deserved massage. Brilliant! Read More

Roller Buggy – the baby stroller/scooter hybrid for kids on the fast track

Being a single, childless (as far as I know), male my experience with baby strollers is largely limited to trying to avoid parents using them as battering rams at my local shopping center. That task could get a whole lot tougher if the Roller Buggy gains widespread popularity. A simple pull of the lower body extends a platform and transforms the Roller Buggy from a run-of-the-mill baby stroller into a scooter that lets parents transport baby around town at breakneck (hopefully not literally) speed. Have Japanese researchers discovered how to analyze a baby's cry? Image: Flickr, memekode...

New parents discover quite quickly how loudly their newborn can scream when they’re not happy. But working out the cause of the problem is unfortunately pretty much a guessing game. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a device that could tell you exactly what was wrong with your baby? It might not be as preposterous as it sounds - Japanese scientists claim they have developed a statistical computer program that can analyze the differences in a baby's cries. So, future baby monitors could be capable of alerting parents that their child is tired, hungry, needs a diaper change, or is in pain. Read More

Baby Bunk sleeper positions baby right next to your bed for convenient feeding and comfort...

Brand new babies are divine but can be demanding - with some needing to be fed or comforted every two to three hours. Whilst the daytime feeds can be OK, it might be more of a struggle to get out of bed for the night feeds. With the Baby Bunk sleeper you won’t have to. It’s a cleverly designed co-sleeper that conveniently positions baby right next to you without having to share your bed. Read More
