The new Cross Coupe to be seen at the Geneva Motor Show.
Image Gallery (4 images)We first saw Volkswagen's plug-in petrol-electric hybrid Cross Coupé concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. Now there's a new Cross Coupé concept to be shown at the Geneva Motor Show this week that use a turbodiesel direct injection engine (TDI) and two electric motors to achieve 1.8 liters per 100 km (around 157 mpg) with CO2 emissions of just 46 g/km.
The Cross Coupé is proof that achieving 150 mpg is not just the realm of asthmatic shopping trolleys as the 225 kW Cross Coupe has a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph) and a curb weight of 1,858 kg (4,096 lb).
I think (hope) they'll produce this right after they
deliver the 1L I ordered - years ago? :-)
(heaven forbid they have some ex management
from GMs EV1 program)

Either VW is goofin' on us or all the other hybrids are. Oh...easy to give all kinds of stats on a car you never intend to produce.

Great, Just what the world needs another 150+ MPG concept vehicle that will never go into production. Concept cars are useless if nobody manufactures them.

I agree with garbage_in
Are there ANY diesel-electric hybrids available in America?
Why not?

Fine. Just send me one and I will test it in the brutal weather of San Diego, CA. Oh, VW, what happened to the 1L?
