Gizmag editor Noel McKeegan was quite bullish about the prospects for the Korean Prinics photoframe he saw at IFA in Berlin this week. “How many times does someone say, “can I get a copy of that?”, said Noel. “Photoframes are where digital imaging meets the real world – it’s where you put you most special pics on display, and quite rightfully, you don’t want to necessarily give away the original digital file. So this is the ideal solution!” The top-of-the-line model boasts an eight inch LCD screen and produces borderless 6” x 4” pictures, and can even produce ID photos at the touch of a button.

Prinics was established in Korea four years ago with a goal of becoming the master of photo frame technology and by grafting a proprietary single cartridge into a photoframe, the company is certainly heading that way. The all-in-one cartridge keeps you informed of when it needs replacing and slots in easily from the side. Most importantly, it enables you to give someone a copy of the image on the spot without giving away your treasured digital original.

The frame can hold enough paper to print 12 borderless 6” x 4” pictures, and can even produce ID photos at the touch of a button, supporting six different international formats – 5x7 cm, 5x5 (passport), 5x4, 3.5x4.5, 3x4 and 2.5x3 cm.

The frame accepts standard CF memory cards, supports ten languages (English, French, German, Korean, Portuguese, Holland, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Greek) and the printing aspect is covered by an international patent.
