Yamaha joins the three-wheel motorcycle trend with the Tricity

If personal experience is anything to go by, Europeans love their scooters. One seems to zoom past every few seconds where I live, and a good many of those are three-wheelers from the likes of Peugeot and Piaggio. Yamaha is looking to grab a slice of the action with a Leaning Multi-Wheel concept named Tricity. Debuted earlier this month at EICMA in Milan, Italy, the company sees the three-wheel, tilting scooter becoming the standard city commuter when it's released next year. Lit Motors launches crowdfunding campaign for its kubo electric cargo scooter

Lit Motors is definitely best-known for its C1 – a self-balancing, fully-enclosed electric motorcycle, that's still in development. The company has also been quietly working on another vehicle, however, known as the kubo. It's an electric cargo scooter, in which the payload is carried inside the frame. A Florida company has thrown some essence of kick scooter, two cups of skateboard, a dash of bike seasoning, and perhaps even slice of Kangoo- or trampoline-like jump action into the idea mixer and cooked up what looks like one fun ride. When riders step down on its flexible deck, a special drive mechanism propels the Bowboard forward. Acton teases the collapsible electric M Scooter

Last year, Acton, Inc. made quite an impression with its spnKiX motorized skates, and it looks like the company has even more personal vehicles in the works. Recently the company revealed a new electric motorbike called the M Scooter, which the company claims can fold up into about half its size for easier storage. Electric scooter-sharing scheme launched in Barcelona

While bicycle sharing schemes are now commonplace in the world's major urban centers, the city of Barcelona is giving the idea a jolt by adding electrification to the equation. The scheme called Motit was launched this European summer with a trial run that includes 50 all-electric scooters which, as well as being quiet and producing no tailpipe emissions, add a dash of purple to the Mediterranean city famous for its funky street life. What the flax? Lightweight Be.e scooter's body made from plants

Flax is undoubtedly one very useful plant. The seeds are both tasty and nutritious, its fibers have been used to protect our delicate skins for thousands of years, and it's helped us express ourselves through art and music. Now it's about to play a supporting role in quickly zipping us through busy city streets. The Be.e electric scooter designed by Dutch firm Waarmakers has a monocoque body made from NPSP's natural fiber-reinforced composites, a modern take on glass-fiber composites where the glass has been replaced by Flax and then mixed with bio-resin.
