NASA and GM develop power-assisted Robo-Glove

By - March 13, 2012 3 Pictures
Having trouble getting the lid off that pickle jar? Well, perhaps the Human Grasp Assist device can help. Designed through a collaboration between GM and NASA - and also known as Robo-Glove or K-Glove - the device is based on grasping technology initially developed for the hands of the space-going Robonaut 2. Essentially a power-assisted work glove, Robo-Glove is designed to minimize repetitive stress injuries in both astronauts and autoworkers. Read More

Astronaut and Robonaut shake hands on the ISS

History is full of famous handshakes that symbolize a permanent change in the status quo. The 1945 Roosevelt-Churchill-Stalin triple handshake. The 1961 Kennedy-Khrushchev handshake. Robonaut 2 set to become first humanoid robot in space

By - January 31, 2011 6 Pictures
Robonaut 2 will become the first humanoid robot to head into space next month when the space shuttle Discovery blasts-off. Because R2’s legs are still being tested, they’ll be sent up on a later launch, as will a few other upgrades that are designed to ultimately allow the robot to help astronauts with extra-vehicular activities.
