Remote-control Range Rover can be driven with a smartphone app

High end cars are creeping towards full autonomy, unlocking new abilities every generation that allow them to drive themselves under certain conditions. Now, using the sensors and hardware that let the car park itself, Jaguar Land Rover has demonstrated a very nifty remote control app that lets you get out of your car, stand beside it and drive it using your smartphone. It's an incredibly handy way to get this huge thing in and out of tight parking spots, or negotiate particularly rough terrain while keeping an eye on what's happening. Land Rover previews Range Rover SVAutobiography

Land Rover has tossed out the Autobiography Black as its flagship car, and at the 2015 New York International Auto Show will replace it with the new Range Rover SVAutobiography. Land Rover has expanded its Range Rover Sport lineup, plugging the gap between the entry level car and its more expensive V8 stablemates with the new Range Rover Sport HST. Powered by a retuned version of the Range Rover Sport's supercharged engine, the HST's 3.0-liter supercharged V6 produces 40 hp (30 kW) more than the the standard Sport, and features a more road-focused suspension tune for improved handling. Believe it or not, Land Rover has decided that an Evoque convertible is a thing worthy of reality, even after three full years of hindsight. Range Rover Sport SVR claims new Nürburgring record

Land Rover is claiming a new lap record for a production SUV on the renowned 20.8 km (13 mile) Nordschleife circuit at the Nürburgring in Germany, with its Range Rover Sport SVR completing the circuit in just 8 minutes and 14 seconds.
