Pentax to release mid-range K-r digital SLR

Pentax went color crazy when it released the K-x digital SLR. The company now offers 12 different colors ranging from olive green to pink to orange. Things seems to have calmed down a little for its latest release, with the K-r only coming in three colors. The new addition features a 12.4 megapixel sensor, huge sensitivity range and six frames per second continuous shooting. Technical Image Press Association names photography award winners for 2010

The TIPA Awards have been run and won for 2010, meaning potential purchasers can make informed purchasing decisions backed by the collective opinions of 28 international photographic magazine editors. The big winners in the DSLR categories were the Nikon D3s (Professional) Canon EOS 7D (Expert), Canon EOS 550D (Advanced) and Pentax K-x (Entry). Pentax announces tough W90 and superzoom X90 cameras

Pentax has announced that the successor to last year's W80 rugged compact camera not only proudly boasts a new body design but refinements to its internal mechanisms have granted it a boost in the bravado department too. The Pentax X70 joins the Compact Megazoom class of 2009

Joining the megazoom compact class of 2009, already featuring the 26x Olympus SP590, 24x Nikon CoolPix P90, 24x Kodak Z980 and newly announced 20x Sony Cyber-shot HX1 is the 24x Pentax X70. Now they all have small bodies, optical zooms that run from wide angle to super-telephoto (26mm to 624mm equivalent in this case) and more than enough pixels (12 MPX in this case), the technology is being shoehorned in (high-speed burst mode that captures 11 images per second, face recognition and more) to enable camera klutzes to produce near pro quality at the ridiculously reasonable cost of USD400. Pentax Optio P70 compact – 12 MPX plus 720p video

January 6, 2009 Digital still image and video continue to converge with Pentax announcing the US$200 Optio P70 at CES. The ultra-slim P70 takes 12 megapixel still images and 720p video, sadly at just 15 FPS, but it’s a start.
