The smart forstars concept

Some of the concept cars that turn up at motor shows seem a little bit mad, but the smart forstars scheduled to be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show (September 29 - October 14) is a car that seems to have developed a particularly serious identity disorder. The 2008 Urban Crossover Concept

Peugeot caused a bit of a stir earlier this year in Beijing when it unveiled its 2008 Urban Crossover Concept, a "world car" designed for an increasingly young, urban market. Following the same design philosophy, the French automaker has announced that the new 2008 compact 4X4 hatchback, which is set to get its official unveiling at the Paris Motor Show later this month, will go into production in 2013.  Read More

SsangYong is to present a range-extended electric version of its XIV (eXciting user Interf...

SsangYong is to present an electric version of its XIV (eXciting user Interface Vehicle) design series at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, dubbed appropriately, the e-XIV. The B-segment CUV (crossover utility vehicle) is a range-extended EV that uses a small petrol engine for charging, plus it runs roof mounted solar cell panels.  Read More

MINI John Cooper Works GP

More details of the two-seater MINI John Cooper Works GP have been released ahead of its official debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month. The "fastest MINI ever" hasn’t just been given a couple of aerodynamic aprons and some racing stripes. BMW has dropped in a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that puts out 218 bhp (160 kW) to send this MINI from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 242 kph (150 mph).  Read More

Citroen DS3 Cabrio

Its engine has won its class in the International Engine of the Year Awards for the last six years running, it won the World Rally Drivers and Constructors Championship at its first attempt in 2011 and will win both championships again this year. Indeed, it has won numerous journalist-bestowed awards in the last two years including Top Gear's 2010 "Car of the Year." Now it's available with a sliding top which combines a three-position convertible roof with a hatchback shape, frugality, and heaps of fun. It is Citroen's DS3 Cabrio, and although we won't see it in the metal until the Mondial de l'Automobile (Paris Motor Show) later this month, it will be in showrooms within six months.  Read More

The new 7th generation Golf adopts the Volkswagen Groups MQB platform

No doubt hoping to position its new Golf as a modern classic, Volkswagen chose Berlin’s New National Gallery as the location for the invitation only world premiere of the seventh generation of its best-selling small family car on Tuesday. The move to the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Transverse Matrix (Modularer Querbaukasten or MQB) platform means that the new Golf has had a complete redesign, with a new body, powertrain and interior.  Read More

The Chevrolet Trax will be rolled-out in 140 markets from the end of 2012

Chevrolet will introduce a new compact sport utility vehicle known as the Trax at the 2012 Paris motor show. If the name rings a bell, that's because Trax was also the label given to a diminutive SUV concept that Chevrolet floated back in 2007 and while there is next to no detail on the production model at this stage, we do know that it won't be heading to the U.S. market.  Read More
