Panasonic's LUMIX DMC-GH3 focuses on multimedia professionals
Two years after unveiling the LUMIX DMC-GH2 at Photokina 2010, Panasonic has pulled back the curtains on its new flagship digital single lens mirrorless camera. As you might expect, given the elapsed time since the release of the GH2, the new LUMIX DMC-GH3 offers significant improvements over its predecessor. Where other large sensor cameras might require users to slot in an Eye-Fi memory card before being able to get online, the 20.3 megapixel NX1000, NX20 and NX210 cameras all feature built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. Pentax Ricoh and acclaimed designer Marc Newson have joined forces to create a new 16 megapixel mirrorless camera and a new pancake lens that's claimed to be the world's thinnest interchangeable lens. The Pentax K-01 interchangeable lens camera (pronounced "kay zero one") is also said to be compatible with over 25 million previously-produced Pentax K-mount lenses. Read More
Fujifilm announces X-Pro1 interchangeable lens camera system
When Fujifilm unveiled its new line-up ahead of CES 2012, there was a feeling among enthusiasts that the company was holding something back. Sure enough, the Japanese photography behemoth has now pulled back the curtain to reveal a new interchangeable lens digital camera system called the X-Pro1. The 16 megapixel camera will be initially joined by three prime lenses when made available next month, with more to follow later on. It features a number of new digital photography developments, including a brand new sensor, a film-like color filter array and the second generation hybrid multi viewfinder first seen in the FinePix X100. Nikon announces new mirrorless 1 system interchangeable lens cameras
Nikon has announced a new camera system which heads down a path already well-trodden by the likes of Sony and Olympus. The company has launched its 1 system with a couple of pocket-sized mirrorless cameras and four interchangeable lenses. Both cameras feature brand new hybrid autofocus technology, super-fast continuous shooting, intuitively placed, redesigned camera controls and full high definition movie recording. Read More
