The premiere of the new Mini Cooper in Oxford

In some ways, the Mini Cooper is a bit like a dog. Most people who remember it as a puppy are rather surprised at how big it has grown. On Monday, at its Oxford plant, BMW presented the world premiere of new Mini line to show off the model’s latest growth spurt and the new technology hidden inside.  Read More

MINI has chosen the height of the British summer to unveil its new motoring-cum-camping concepts aimed at music festival goers and outdoor types in need of what the company euphemistically describes as "overnight solutions." X-raid MINI ALL4 Racer

Despite an available ALL4 all-wheel drive, the MINI Countryman isn't necessarily the most ideal car to take off road – unless of course it's outfitted for Dakar dominance. Last year's event saw the Countryman taking home the top spot and four other top-ten finishes, with the overall victory secured by French driver Stéphane Peterhansel in his 10th career Dakar win. The Monster X-Raid Team has prepared the Countryman to defend its strong performance at last year's Dakar Rally .  Read More

Porter, world's first driving dog

A cute canine is something that shouldn't need much marketing – it pretty much sells itself. Or so you'd think. According to the ASPCA, around two million dogs are euthanized each year after finding their way into shelters. People simply don't adopt these abandoned and lost dogs at the same rate they find their way into shelters. For this reason, the SPCA in Auckland, New Zealand, which estimates it alone has anywhere from 50 to 100 dogs eagerly awaiting new owners each week, decided it was time to advertise with the launch of an advertising campaign that put the dogs back on the streets ... behind the wheel of a specially modified car.  Read More

The John Cooper Works Paceman will debut at the Detroit Auto Show

After giving the Paceman Concept the production nod early last year, MINI debuted the 2013 Paceman just a few months ago in September. That vehicle will go on sale in the United States next year, but before it does MINI wants to show what's possible when the Paceman beefs up. The John Cooper Works Paceman will make its official world debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in January, but MINI decided to pull the covers off a month early for internet gawkers.  Read More

The MINI Convertible boat, in Cambridge

No, you can’t buy one. The MINI Convertible boat is the only one of its kind, and is in fact not even a true MINI. It is an actual boat, however, and you may see it sometime soon, should you be near a waterway in the eastern U.S.  Read More

The MINI John Cooper Works Countryman (Photo: BMW)

When MINI Cooper came out with its Mini Countryman in 2010, it looked like what it was – a 4x4 crossover for people who like MINIs, but occasionally need to drive through a field or live on steep, icy hills. This year, MINI’s John Cooper Works sub-brand comes out with its version of the Countryman that takes the bucolic MINI and gives it a heavy dose of racetrack style and technology.  Read More
