Mercedes Benz won its first Formula One Grand Prix for 57 years in China today, completing the successful comeback many thought it could not achieve. Winning driver Nico Rosberg took pole position for the race ahead of teammate and seven time champion Michael Schumacher, before driving a calculated race to put the Silver Arrow back in the winners circle.  Read More

The 2013 G-Class maintains traditional styling with a few subtle updates

Mercedes-Benz debuted its 2013 G-Class off-roader this week. The vehicle receives some updates for the 2013 model year, but keeps its tough, rugged look and drive. Hard-nosed off-roader outside, Mercedes inside.  Read More

New models galore at Thai Motor Show

The strength of the world's emerging economies was on display at the opening of the Thai Motor Show today. Almost every major manufacturer had something on show we haven't seen before. Great picture gallery.  Read More

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG that will be available in September 2012

Mercedes’ high performance AMG division has been busy in recent months, with the launch of the SL 63 AMG and announcement that its SLS AMG E-Cell Gullwing has gotten a production nod. Now, with the weather warming up in the northern hemisphere, AMG has unveiled its new roadster, the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG. Powered by a 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine developing a max output of 463 kW (630 hp) and max torque of 1,000 Nm, the new SL 65 AMG boasts an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of four seconds, and 0-200 km/h (124 mph) time of 11.8 seconds.  Read More

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-CELL

Can an electric version of one of the world's supercars be a supercar? Mercedes-AMG has answered this question with a resounding yes by announcing the SLS AMG E-Cell that was confirmed for production in Detroit in January will be available in 2013. Its electric powertrain gives the E-Cell a 0-60 mph (96.5 km/h) time of 4.0 seconds, compared to the SLS AMG's 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds. When it comes to top speed, both cars are electronically limited. The E-Cell can hit 155 mph (249.4 km/h), while the SLS AMG tops out at 197 mph (317 km/h). While not quite the equal of the gas-powered SLS AMG, the E-Cell is clearly in supercar territory!  Read More

The first outing of Mercedes Benz new 1937 Grand Prix car was not in Europe, but in the po...

With the world's most watched event, Formula One, returning to lounge rooms across the globe today, Mercedes is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its dominant 1937 W125 Grand Prix car - the Silver Arrow had a 595 bhp turbocharged, desmodromic 5.7 liter straight eight which comprised one third of the car's 750 kg dry weight. Launched at the Grand Prix of Tripoli (yes, in Libya), the car was a technological marvel for its day, and averaged 132 mph at its first outing - amazing images and actual video of the 1937 Tripoli Grand Prix.  Read More

The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class in 'AMG Sport' exterior spec.

The original A-Class was a strange thing. An attempt to bring the Mercedes magic to the masses its tall boxy styling, though practical, was not a thing of beauty. Unfortunately the high center of gravity meant that it infamously failed the Swedish “moose test” and had to have its suspension modified. This caused the ride to be unacceptably hard for its target market of middle-class mums and the poor quality of the interior finish did nothing for MB’s reputation. The new A-Class launched at the Geneva show could not be more different.  Read More

The Mercedes Vito E-Cell will be available around Europe in May

It may not be the sexiest electric vehicle on display at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, but the Mercedes-Benz Vito E-Cell is definitely one of the hardest working. The MPV carries up to seven passengers without blowing a puff of tailpipe smoke. Mercedes used the show to present a transparent model of the upcoming van.  Read More

The BRABUS BULLIT Stealth Coupe 800

It's the ultimate sleeper! Brabus' US$500,000 matte-black stealth coupe has no outward pizzazz whatsoever (at least to the untrained eye), but with a 788 bhp twin-turbo V12 under the hood, it can hit 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, 200 km/h in 9.8 seconds, 300 km/h (186 mph) in 23.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of more than 370 km/h (230 mph).  Read More

The Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG and Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 car unveiled together

Mercedes-Benz took the unusual step of combining the unveiling of the 2012 Mercedes Petronas AMG W03 Formula One car with the launch of the AMG version of the new SL Roadster. This was probably quite a smart move. Although these F1 launches are good photo-ops there is always a severe lack of hard information, for understandable reasons. A new AMG however is always an interesting story - plus, ‘Shuey’ and Nico get to ferry a few privileged journos around the Barcelona F1 track. Extensive galleries of both the road and track cars included.  Read More
