Thinking vertically can add a whole new dimension to our storage solutions, but there's a one clunky inhabitant of garages around the world that doesn't particularly lend itself to an upright way of life. Landscape equipment manufacturer Toro is looking to solve this dilemma through its Recycler mower, a lawn mower designed to be stored vertically without undesirable pools of oil and gas forming underfoot.  Read More

The SmartMow development platform

RobotLabs has launched a KickStarter campaign to develop a robot lawnmower. Though that may not sound particularly new, the company claims other automated lawnmowers aren't true robots because they don't adhere to Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics. In other words, they're not safe enough, RobotLabs claims. RobotLabs claims its SmartMow is different, shutting down almost instantaneously when people or animals get close.  Read More

Bosch has introduced its new robotic lawnmower, the Indego

Well, the Auto-Mower, Robby Garden XP, Evolution, and Robomow now have another competitor to content with – last month, Bosch launched its Indego autonomous lawnmower. The Robby Garden XP robotic lawn mower

The latest yard roaming mower to join the fray is the Robby Garden XP that uses its patented grass detection sensors to get the job done without the need to install a virtual perimeter wire. It also mulches as it goes to help fertilize the lawn and eliminate the need for post-mowing raking.  Read More

The Momentum Reel Mower makes tough patches less of a chore

"Green" mowers like the human-powered Mow Cycle are great for keeping that well manicured lawn along with a clear conscience. But there’s always the chance of running into a patch of particularly thick grass that makes push mowers that little bit less attractive. The Momentum Reel Mower tackles this shortcoming in an ingenious way - its InertiaDrive Technology (patent pending) stores energy like a flywheel to unleash a burst of extra cutting power when required.  Read More

Project Runningblade - the 100mph lawnmower

The world speed record for lawnmowers is currently 80mph, but Project Runningblade, launched at the UK’s Beaulieu National Motor Museum this week aims to raise it to more than 100mph using a highly-modified Countax-based machine. At that clip, it could cut an entire soccer pitch in 2 minutes and 42 seconds not to mention setting world records for both speed and eccentricity.  Read More
