The Range Rover Evoque, with the world's first 9-speed gearbox

Land Rover has announced that it will demonstrate the world's first nine-speed automatic transmission for a passenger car at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The ZF HP9 9-speed gearbox has a higher top gear in a more compact design, in order to fit in the same space as conventional 6-speed transmissions. According to Land Rover, it will also provide smoother gear shifts with improved accelerations and lower fuel consumption.  Read More

At 575-hp, the GTS-X is Overfinch's most powerful Range Rover Sport

UK-based Range Rover tuner Overfinch has revealed a pair of Range Rovers that add some distinctive styling and performance over stock models. The halo of the two new models is the Overfinch Sport GTS-X, which Overfinch describes as the most powerful, high performance Range Rover Sport in its stable. To reach that claim, Overfinch has remapped the ECU on the supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 and upgraded induction, boosting output to 575 hp and top speed to 145 mph (233 km/h). And just in case the message isn't getting through, the company has also added the grumble of a driver-controlled valve release exhaust system.  Read More

The EXR rally car pulls key components out of Land Rover's garage
