The carbon-fiber-heavy - or rather, light - Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

At the worldwide preview of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann also announced the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (Sixth Element) will be going into production. But don’t bother counting your pennies because the production run is limited to just 20 cars and all have already been spoken for.  Read More

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale

There's a torrent of automotive news flowing from this week's Frankfurt Motor Show and next on the rank is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale - the most extreme V10 yet produced by Volkswagen's Italian supercar subsidiary. Only 150 of the four wheel drive 570 bhp carbon fiber projectiles, no doubt due to the extreme effort required to shave another 70 kilograms off the already anorexic Gallardo LP 560-4. The motor might be the same as a “normal” Gallardo but the aerodynamics and lightweight construction are what make it a genuine racer for the road.  Read More

The ASUS-Automobili Lamborghini VX7

The ASUS-Automobili Lamborghini VX7 is, as the name suggests, a computer designed to emulate the style and performance of Lamborghini cars, with a case that captures the angular Lambo styling, and rear cooling vents modeled on a Lambo's taillights and exhaust through to a host of other faux association. What isn't false though, is the performance of the machine, which runs quad-core 2nd generation (Sandy Bridge) Intel Core i7 processors, and is also the first to use NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 460M GPU. Read the specs as a tech junkie and you'll likely be far more excited than the petrolhead association would get you. How about 3GB of video memory or TWO 7,200rpm 750GB hard drives providing a total of 1.5TB or storage? This is a beast, regardless of the badging.  Read More

Lamborghini's new Aventador on stage at the Geneva Motor Show

It only takes a glance at Lamborghini's Aventador to know it's a Lambo. In fact, it inherits from the long-toothed Murcielago the mantle of top-bull in Italian marque's lineup. And with it, beneath the latest interpretation of Lambo's hallmark body origami – yes, the scissor doors remain – comes the technical shiz it needs to fill such a spot. Engine, transmission, suspension, bodywork – it's completely clean-sheet new. All up, they conspire to put the Aventador at the pointy end of the performance spectrum – the first anything-like-mainstream car to kiss 100 km/h in less than three seconds (we're not counting its step-sibling, the Bugatti Veyron, in its class).  Read More

Lamborghini's extraordinary new V12 powertrain

Lamborghini's high-revving V12 engines have been at the heart of the brand since 1964, powering dreamcars such the Miura, Espada, Countach, Diablo and Murciélago. Its next 6.5 litre V12 powerplant is brutally powerful (700 bhp) but raw numbers alone do not do it justice. The 48 valves are electronically actuated while the sophisticated engine, thermal and oil circulation management systems ensure engine health under extreme conditions. You can bet the farm this masterpiece will win Engine of the Year and the new seven-speed “emotional” ISR (Independent Shifting Rod), robotized, servo-actuated transmission is equally as impressive, further illustrating an all-encompassing innovation process.  Read More
