The 1923 Leica 0-Series is expected to sell for around US$807,755

A collection of vintage Leica cameras are set to go to auction later this year at the WestLicht Photographica Auction. One of the standouts is a 1923 Leica 0-series camera. The 0-series model represented in the auction was one of just 25 of the cameras made by the company and has retained much of its original glory, although this particular camera as been fitted with a Galian finder rather than the folding version found on the original (typical for these cameras). The camera is in fully-working condition, and has the original paintwork and parts. The 0-series is expected to be the most expensive item at the auction, and sell for around US$807,755.  Read More

Ferrari F40 fans might wish to put the date July 22 in the calendar now, maybe even if you live somewhere a long way from Silverstone. The annual three-day Silverstone Classic is claimed to be the world's biggest classic motor racing festival. Held at the Silverstone F1 circuit in mid-July, the central focus of the massive festival is the historic racing which features the cream of motor racing drivers and cars from every era of motor sport. Whenever there's a significant automotive anniversary, such as the 50th anniversary of the E-type Jaguar, there's also a mass gathering of vehicles. This year the festival is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Ferrari F40 - already more than 50 of the original 1315 F40s produced have RSVP'd for the event, guaranteeing a world record.  Read More

Search giant Google has teamed up with the Bletchley Park Trust to kick start a fundraising effort to rebuild the records center known as Block C. British home designer Duncan Jackson recently joined forces with architectural firm Piercy Conner to transform an 1880 defense tower in Suffolk, England into a stylish and accommodating home. The defense tower, being a historically-registered building, was transformed whilst maintaining its structural appearance and integrity. The project came with a list of obstacles, including the tower's round structure, minimal windows, 12 foot-thick walls and wetlands environment. Despite these hurdles, the joint venture successfully created a contemporary home with an abundance of light, warmth and a streamlined interior design.  Read More
