New Chevy Volt gets sportier looks, 50 miles of electric drive

Chevy prepares Vision Gran Turismo-based classic Chaparral race cars

We're pretty sure the Nissan Concept 2020 is the coolest of the Vision Gran Turismo concepts. Then again, maybe it's the Aston Martin DP-100? A trip a little farther down memory lane reminds us of last year's Mercedes-Benz. With so many virtual racers hitting PlayStation this past year, it's difficult to decide. Another Vision Gran Turismo debut is sure to make the decision even tougher. EcoCAR 3 competition tasks students with designing a greener Camaro

For the past 26 years, the US Department of Energy (DOE), in partnership with the North American auto industry, has sponsored Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions (AVTCs) to provide the next generation of automotive engineers with a practical learning experience. The previous EcoCAR Challenge saw students convert and massage GM Malibus into super-efficient models, and this time for EcoCAR 3, teams are tasked with updating the iconic Chevrolet Camaro muscle car into a hybrid-electric vehicle.
