Super kettle wins Electrolux Design Lab 2015

A kettle that stores steam to help kids learn about cooking and energy in a hands-on fashion has won the 2015 Electrolux Design Lab in Finland. The competition attracted applications from industrial students located around the world, who were challenged to meet the brief of "Healthy Happy Kids." In response, participating students came up with designs generally based on sustainability and technologically-enhanced lifestyles.

Electrolux Design Lab 2015 semi-finalists announced

Every year since 2003, the Electrolux Design Lab competition has challenged budding stylists and inventors to produce home appliance concepts that may emerge in the not-too-distant future. Six finalists of the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab competition revealed

When it opened for entries in February of this year, the Electrolux Design Lab competition challenged students from around the world to come up with innovative appliance concepts for the homes of the future. "Creating Healthy Homes" was the theme and after previously announcing the 35 semi-finalists, the organizers have now whittled over 1,700 entrants down to six finalists, who will look to wow a jury with their designs in France next month. Electrolux Design Lab 2011 winners announced

The votes have been tallied in the Electrolux Design Lab 2011 and coming out on top in a field of over 1,300 entries received from over 50 countries is Slovakian design student Adrian Mankovecký for his Portable Spot Cleaner. Comprising two components that are separated and placed on either side of a garment, the pint-sized washing machine would be powered by a sugar crystal battery and use negative ions and steam to clean stains. Mankovecký will receive a prize of 5,000 euro (approx. US$7,025) and a six-month paid internship at an Electrolux global design center. Read More

Electrolux Design Lab Finalists opened up to people's vote

The grand final of this year's Electrolux Design Lab 2011 competition is fast approaching. The field has been reduced to the last eight solutions for compact living and video presentations of the concept designs produced.
