mophie launches 1700 mAh juice pack air for iPhone 5

mophie is launching a new juice pack battery case for the iPhone 5. The new model, called the juice pack air, promises faster charging, higher capacity, and a thinner design. mophie even claims that the new case is designed to act as an amplifier for the iPhone 5's speaker. Two weeks ago, the company also launched the juice pack helium, which comes with a lower capacity, as a trade-off for an even thinner design. Read More

BRUSA develops on-board EV fast charger for three-phase current

Swiss technology specialist BRUSA Elektronik AG is claiming a first for electric vehicle fast charging with the launch of its NLG6 battery charger. Small enough to be fitted on-board an electric car, the unit is capable of operating on a three-phase current with power of up to 22 kW, meaning that it could fully charge a typical electric vehicle in less than one hour. European EV models featuring the NLG6 charger will be available to customers by next month. Read More

ebuggy concept promises "unlimited range" for EVs

Until there’s some huge revolution in battery technology, electric vehicles are destined to remain as urban runabouts, never going out on long highway trips ... right? Well, not if Germany’s ebuggy project has anything to say about it. The group is developing little range-extending battery trailers that could be towed behind electric cars, providing power to the vehicles on longer trips. While it may not be likely that one person would need to charge a MacBook and two iPads all at the same time, it’s entirely possible that a group of people (say, a group of people covering an electronics trade show) might need to. If they did, and an AC outlet wasn’t close at hand, a single Sanho HyperJuice2 could apparently do the job. The portable battery pack was just launched at IFA 2012. Read More
