Team of 3D-printing "Minibuilder" robots print large-scale structures on site

3D printers are great at creating small objects – and some can even be pressed into doing larger things, such as cars – but a 3D printer able to print a full-sized house would have to be, well, bigger than a house. To tackle this problem, a team of researchers from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona removed the size restrictions of a printer altogether by using mobile 3D printer robots to print directly on site. Ferrari Land theme park revs up in Spain

Car brand marketing usually means slapping a badge on a tote bag and asking a thousand dollars for it, but Ferrari has gone one better by applying its badge to not one, but two theme parks. Ferrari and PortAventura Entertainment S.A.U have signed an agreement to build a second Ferrari-themed park, Ferrari Land, as part of the PortAventura resort and theme park outside Barcelona, Spain. Expected to open in 2016, the 7.5 ha (18.5 acre) site is billed as “an opportunity for the whole family to experience and discover the world of Ferrari.” Read More

Electric scooter-sharing scheme launched in Barcelona

While bicycle sharing schemes are now commonplace in the world's major urban centers, the city of Barcelona is giving the idea a jolt by adding electrification to the equation. The scheme called Motit was launched this European summer with a trial run that includes 50 all-electric scooters which, as well as being quiet and producing no tailpipe emissions, add a dash of purple to the Mediterranean city famous for its funky street life.
