Bang & Olufsen's new 55-inch UHD BeoVision Avant television

When the first Ultra HD televisions first started to trickle into the consumer space, early adopters paid quite a premium to be the first in the neighborhood to enjoy all that eye-popping visual goodness at four times the resolution of bog standard High Definition. Thankfully, prices soon began to drop and viewers today can get hold of a good-sized 4K TV for under a grand ... unless it carries the mark of Bang & Olufsen. The Danish luxury consumer tech manufacturer today released its new 55-inch UHD BeoVision Avant television for a cool US$8,000.  Read More

Denmark's Bang & Olufsen (B&O) has revealed that it's the first high-end speaker manufacturer to incorporate technology based on the recent Wireless Speaker and Audio Association (WiSA) open standard. The BeoPlay A9 is a new disc-shaped streaming wireless speaker from Bang & Olufsen subsidi...

B&O Play could be described as the hip, contemporary arm of Bang & Olufsen. That ethos is certainly reflected in the company’s soon-to-be-available streaming wireless speaker, the BeoPlay A9. Unlike traditional boxy speakers, it’s flat(ish), it’s round, and it’s designed to be looked at as much as listened to.  Read More

The Bang & Olufsen PLAY Beolit 12 AIRPLAY

The B&O PLAY Beolit 12 is about the size of a small car battery, weighs 2.8 kg and contains a substantial battery, a digital Class D 120 Watt amplifier, plus two 2" tweeters and a 4" woofer. It also connects via Apple's AirPlay, so it plays seamlessly from your iPod, IPad or iPhone by AirPlay for four hours, or wired to your iThing for eight hours. Based on our past experience with B&O, the sound will be exquisite, but the Beolit 12 might also be the most expensive accessory you'll consider for the iPhone - EUR700 or US$800.  Read More

Getting touchy feely at the launch of the TouchTunes Virtuo SmartJuke

Perhaps I'm of a certain age, but when someone says the word "Jukebox" I immediately think of a Wurlitzer 1015 bubbler, although I've only ever seen one actually working. Or, at a pinch, perhaps a Seeburg M100C – the Happy Days model, as it became known much later. For decades, these music players were at the very center of popular music, and their modern descendants can still be heard in watering holes the world over. TouchTunes Interactive Networks and frog design have teamed up to re-ignite the social spirit of vintage jukeboxes, in an updated device designed to engage a generation used to on-demand digital content.  Read More
