iPow protects and prolongs the iPhone

iPow combines a protective case for the the first-gen iPhone with back up battery power that doubles the device's talk, usage and standby time. Recently launched in the UK, the hard-backed leather flip case has an integrated battery along with built-in mini stereo speakers which of course results in a bulkier, heavier (add 98g to the 135g iPhone) and not quite as cool unit, but the promise of half the number of re-charging stops could well be worth the trade-off for those on the road. iBangle wearable design concept

Apple has a well deserved reputation for churning out slick designs and is equally adept at keeping us guessing as to what's around the corner. Designer Gopinath Prasana is one aficionado who has decided not to wait and see, instead coming up with his own take on what the iPod of the future might look like. Dubbed the iBangle, the concept design turns the iPod into a wrist worn, aluminum bracelet complete with an adjustable air chamber on the inner face that can be inflated to ensure a snug fit. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

What looks like an iPhone, functions like an iPhone, but isn’t an iPhone? Nokia’s new 5800 XpressMusic, that’s what. Nokia would most likely balk at suggestions their new mobile offering is in response to Apple’s ubiquituos device, but comparisons are inevitable with the 5800 sporting similar looks courtesy of a large touch screen, similar looking interface and focus on music. The 5800 XpressMusic will be among the first devices to support "Comes With Music", a Nokia service which offers one year of unlimited access to the entire Nokia Music Store catalogue. Read More

Apple planning touch screen tablet

August 30, 2008 Apple was the company that first took the mouse and the Graphical User Interface to market and it has continued to lead the world in CHI design ever since, with its iPod scroll wheel and iPhone touch screen interface triumphs just some of numerous significant contributions since then. Rumours of a touch screen Macintosh have been rife recently and AppleInsider report earlier this week of a raft of new patent applications seem to indicate a new and no doubt elegantly usable interface is nigh. The 3G Apple iPhone - what are the real chances?

June 5, 2008 You know an event has captured public interest when the bookmakers start laying odds, so you’d better believe that next Monday’s Keynote by Steve Jobs is now an event of international import. The latest odds suggest he’ll be pulling the wraps off a "thin" (less than 0.46in or 11.6mm deep) iPhone with 3G and 32GB of memory and that Apple's stock (AAPL) will close higher than its opening value that day. You knew that? Then put your money where your mouth is, Mr Smartypants, because the odds on offer are much better than bank interest. Read More
