Samsung TL350 10MP compact camera sports analog capacity gauges

With Samsung's TL350 compact digital camera, users can enjoy the benefits of full high definition video recording, a 10.2 megapixel sensor, five times optical zoom on a wide-angle lens and a bright AMOLED display for preview and review. Would-be action movie makers might also be interested in the super slow motion possibilities offered by a 1,000 frames per second video recording mode, but what first caught our eye was the nifty analog capacity gauges on top which indicate remaining battery and memory. Samsung unveiled the Samsung Wave (S8500) in Barcelona today. The handset is the first to use Samsung’s new, open mobile platform, Samsung bada, runs a super high quality touch screen AMOLED 3.3” WVGA (800x480 pixels) display, a Social Hub to integrate contacts and connections, and TouchWiz 3.0 for an intuitive and hugely customizable user interface. The Wave runs on a high-speed homegrown CPU, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi 802.11n, has a 5 mpx camera and will be available globally from April 2010. Read More

Another landmark in the unrelenting evolution of the digital camera was reached this week when Samsung announced two 12.2 mega-pixel point-and-shoot digital cameras with 15x optical zooms. The top of the line camera, to be known as the WB650 in Europe and the HZ35W in the U.S., sports a 3.0” AMOLED display, Dual Image Stabilisation (both optical and digital image stabilizers), a GPS (for geo-tagging) and 720p video at 30fps. It’s a stunning achievement to fit all this into a compact camera body just 30mm thick and with the PMA Show approaching, one wonders if this camera will still be winning the “mine’s bigger than yours” contest a month from now. Although Sony may have delayed development of larger screen OLED TVs, it seems LG can’t wait to get its 15-inch active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) unit into stores with news it is set be released in Korea even sooner than the previously announced December 2009 to January 2010 timeframe. As well as announcing the TV is due to hit the shelves in Korea next month, LG also released some mouth-watering technical details about the world’s largest consumer OLED TV ahead of its unveiling at the IFA 2009 consumer electric show in Berlin. Samsung is touting the new Jet as “smarter than a smartphone”. Not sure how “smartness” is measured, but the claim probably stems from the beefy 800MHz processor powering the phone. However, opting for Samsung’s own TouchWiz 2.0 platform instead of a traditional smartphone operating system means the phone is more likely to fill a niche between feature phones and smartphones. Samsung Electronics seem to be busy beavers of late, with new products landing on the shelves all over the place.
