Audi's digital rear-view mirror moves from racetrack to R8 e-tron production vehicle

Audi’s digital rear-view mirror, which made its debut in the R18 e-tron Quattro and R18 ultra race cars at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, is set to enter small scale production at the end of this year in the Audi R8 e-tron. Unlike previous rear-view mirrors from the likes of Ford, Toyota and Mazda, which dedicate only a percentage of the mirror’s surface area to displaying vision from a rear-view camera, Audi’s digital rear-view mirror does away with the conventional mirror altogether. When it comes to smartphones, people can argue about the relative merits of a bigger display that is easier on the eyes and fingers or a smaller display that results in a more pocket-friendly unit. But whatever the length and width, it seems that the desire for a thinner smartphone is pretty much universal. And - for the time being anyway - they don't come any thinner than the Huawei Ascend P1 S that made its debut at CES this week. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 gets the Super AMOLED Plus display treatment

Only a couple of months after Samsung debuted its Galaxy Tab at IFA 2010 rumors were circulating that an AMOLED version may have been in the works. One year on from the official launch of the tablet, Samsung has unveiled just such a device at IFA 2011 in the form of the Galaxy Tab 7.7. As the name suggests, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 sports a 7.7-inch display (that’s 0.7-inches bigger than the original Galaxy Tab) and is the first tablet to feature a Super AMOLED Plus display, which boasts 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and promises brighter, higher-contrast viewing. Nokia X7 smartphone: 4-inch AMOLED screen, 720p video and updated Symbian software

Nokia has officially taken the wraps off its new X7 smartphone – an entertainment and mobile gaming focused unit that packs a 4-inch, 16:9, AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 8 megapixel camera and 720p video capture into nicely chiseled stainless steel casing that's less than half an inch (11.9 mm) thick. Along with the (also freshly announced) QWERTY keyboard equipped E6, the X7 is the first Nokia device to run on the updated Symbian "Anna" platform which introduces a raft of enhancements including new icons, improved text input, faster browsing and a spruced-up version of Ovi Maps. Nexus S 4G coming to Sprint

Google has announced that its Nexus S Android smartphone will shortly be available on Sprint's WiMAX/4G network. The curvaceous device benefits from a Super AMOLED display that's said to offer an HD-like multimedia experience, Samsung's application processor, a couple of cameras and a decent helping of onboard memory. Samsung Continuum smartphone gets Verizon debut

Sitting underneath the main screen is a ticker display that is used to feed the user news and information without interfering with what's being displayed above.
