Boeing's new Dreamliner 787-9
has touched down after the successful completion of its first flight in the skies above Washington. The 5-hour flight out of Paine Field marks the beginning of a test program for the new Dreamliner variant which is expected to enter commercial service in mid-2014.

Air New Zealand, Boeing, Rolls-Royce and UOP aim to power one of four engines on a Boeing 747-400 on Jatropha-based fuel. The first test flight using the environmentally sustainable oil is scheduled to take place in Auckland in December after fuel testing is completed.
