Things got a little tighter in the already-crowded actioncam market this week, as Conrad Electronic announced its Socam UltiMate Action Camera. Among its features are a rotating lens, a streamlined form factor, and an included splash-proof case. The behavior of drivers at junctions monitored by cameras or on stretches of road under the ever watchful gaze of a radar can be very different to those without. Keen cyclists Andrew Hagen and Kingsley Fiegert from Perth in western Australia are on a mission to give fellow riders the same kind of power. Ricoh has revealed a trio of new ruggedized cameras which are designed to cope with the demands of thrill-seeking photographers. In addition to being tough enough to use in extreme conditions - whether that's underwater, in very cold temperatures, or being subjected to shocks - the new WG-4 GPS, WG-4 and WG-20 cameras will also work with a new action-oriented mounting system.  Read More

Shimano's new CM-1000 HD-capable Sport Cam

Shimano has made its first foray into the increasingly crowded action cam market with the CM-1000 Sport Camera. Lightweight and HD-capable, the camera offers ANT+ connectivity and is compatible with Shimano's Di2 wireless SM-EWW01 unit, meaning that along with reliving that epic downhill section, it could also prove a useful tool in tracking performance.  Read More
