Historically, Subaru hasn't been a brand known for its sharp styling, but its designers seem to be on a bit of a roll at the moment. Tokyo played host to two fine looking Subaru concepts and the trend has continued at the Los Angeles Auto Show with the unveiling of the Impreza Sedan Concept.

Measuring up at 4.55 m (14.9 ft) long, 1.78 m (5.8 ft) wide, 1.45 m (4.7 ft) high, and with a wheelbase of 2.6 m (8.7 ft), the concept's wheelbase is a couple of centimeters longer and its overall length is a couple of centimeters shorter than the 2015 Impreza.

Up front, the brand's hawk-eye headlamps and hexagonal grille are the dominant features, just as they are on the Tokyo Impreza Concept and the Viziv SUV, while the character lines down the side of the car are designed to make it look planted and solid on the, er, rotating motor show stand.

Moving to the back of the car, Subaru's designers have made the taillight design mirror that of the headlamps, with a low and wide look. As if to draw attention to the 19-in wheels and remind people that the concept boasts Subaru Symsetrical all-wheel drive, the wheels have been pushed out to sit flush with the edge of the flared wheel arches.

Like the sibling hatch concept unveiled in Tokyo, Subaru says the Sedan Concept provides a preview of what to expect in future models from the company, specifically the all new four-door Impreza, which will be the first vehicle to be based on Subaru's new modular platform.

Geez a stylish Subaru kinda freaks me out. I've got an 08 Forrester and I reckon I like it's nondescript, practical vibe. It's anti cool. It's charms are not visual. Style is a vapid thing. A good machine is enduring.
