May 1, 2008 Located in Idaho’s Northern Rockies, the Silver Mountain Resort is a ski destination in the winter months. Visitors will now be able to enjoy adventure all year round in the area, with the addition of an indoor waterpark.

Opening at the end of this month, Silver Rapids will bring wave riding and other waterpark fun to the high-country over more than 42,000 square feet of the latest aquatic attractions for all ages. At the heart of Silver Rapids is the FlowRider Surf Wave, a continuous wave surfing machine nestled in a safe indoor environment. Other Silver Rapids attractions include: Moose Sluice, a family raft ride with a twisting and turning waterslide, the Gold Rush and Prospector Plunge enclosed tube slides and the North Fork Lazy River, featuring a 315-foot-long water trail that surrounds Miner’s Island, a themed, multi-level play structure with interactive water valves and sprays.

The Silver Mountain Resort also offers numerous of activities for outdoor adventurers during the summer. For downhill mountain bikers, there are 3,500 vertical feet of trails easily accessible thanks to the world’s longest gondola located at the base of the resort. In the winter months, skiers and snowboarders get the benefit of 300 inches of annual snowfall and 2,200+ vertical feet of trails.

The addition of an indoor waterpark at a ski resort is the first of its kind in the Western US, with several other resorts are set to following the trend such as Greek Peak, a ski area in New York State.
