Red Bull and GoPro need to get their act together, because the #1 craziest extreme promo video on the internet today belongs to a shoe company. Representing DC Shoes, Australian motorcycle daredevil Robbie Maddison has dropped into a massive Tahitian wave and surfed it – on a lightly modified KTM dirt bike. This is one of the most supremely ridiculous and jaw-dropping things we've ever seen.

The bike appears to be a KTM 350cc 2-stroke, with a big fat paddle tire on the rear. While we've seen dirtbikes aquaplaning at top speed on a still body of water before, Madison needed some extra help out there in the surf, so it seems they've built him a couple of small platforms either side of his front and rear tyres to give him a bit of lift as he gasses it through the waves.

More details are sure to emerge soon and we'd love a behind the scenes on this gorgeous video. But for now, just watch the damn thing, over and over again, and marvel at the times we live in.

Interesting.... but possibly the most un-environmentally friendly machine ever to be powered by a 2-stoke engine known to mankind. Dare one ask what happens if you fall off... or even slow down for a few seconds, you know, to avoid running over that surfer/diver/dolphin? Maybe an electric version should be his next trick? MW

Jawdropping, though utter nonsense. They have not understood surfing at all.

Martin... I think you are wrong... The most un-environmentally friendly 2 stroke machine would be a chain saw.

I think they approached the video all wrong... awe... look how amazingly beautiful and serene the environment... WAAAaaaap WAaaaap . NOT! LOL.
But the stunt was awesome.

The last thing we need in forests and beaches are idiots screaming around on motorcycles. I have no interest in the death of this moron but to put everyone and everything else in danger for his own ego trip is truly irresponsible. No responsible media outlet would promote such stupidity. JD

Redbull sponsored the video.

Did he have a snorkel on the motor, or any auxiliary air since running through that much surf has to be risky as a stall would be trouble.
Great stunt, not the most environmentally friendly, but it's one small ICE versus many sea machines that already pollute the water.
I agree with Martin, a well sealed electric could outperform the ICE even run underwater if need be.
