July 24, 2008 While home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB) systems typically include hybrid DVD player/AV receivers that offer little in the way of an upgrade path, Onkyo's HT-S series includes a dedicated AV receiver capable of decoding Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.

The Onkyo HT-S6100 features:

  • 7.1 channels at 130 watts per channel
  • 4x HDMI 1.3 inputs
  • Decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio
  • Analog inputs are upscaled to 1080i using Faroudja DCDi Edge processing
  • Audyssey 2EQ automatic speaker calibration

The HT-S6100 is available now with an MSRP of $700, while the Onkyo HT-S7100 will be available in August, adding two speaker stands and Sirius compatibility for an extra $100.
