The New York Auto Show might come hot on the heels of Detroit and Geneva, but that hasn't stopped the world's car companies from pulling out all the stops. From the modern-luxe Genesis New York Concept to the Audi R8 V10 Spyder, there was something for everyone on show,. Take a through look our gallery to check out all the exciting metal on display in the city that never sleeps.

Lincoln continued its resurrection with the big, brash Navigator Concept in New York. Built with the same "quiet luxury" focus that inspired the Continental, the SUV is fitted with a set of gullwing doors big enough to make Tesla Model X owners feel hopelessly inadequate.

Inside, all six passengers are treated to 30-way adjustable seats, and rear passengers needn't worry about road trip boredom thanks to massive headrest screens and integrated Wi-Fi.

Ten years ago, the phrase "Korean luxury car" would have only been uttered in a cruel joke, but today it's a very different story thanks to the efforts of Genesis. Alongside its production G90, Genesis has proven it knows how to create a show-stopping concept car, and the New York Concept is no different.

With Aston Martin-aping looks, a hybrid powertrain and a glitzy interior that pushes the envelope of what's possible when it comes to infotainment systems, the New York Concept proves Korea has plenty to offer in the once-exclusive world of high-end luxury.

We know it's not much of a looker, but move past the bloated exterior and the Prius plug-in represents a major step forward for Toyota. With a pure electric range of 50 km (31 mi), the Prime's 8.8 kWh battery and 1.8-liter engine should combine for improved performance and economy in a more cohesive way than its underwhelming predecessor.

Whether it will meet its 1.8 l/100 km claimed fuel use figure remains to be seen, but Toyota now has the weaponry to battle Hyundai's new Ioniq range.

These three cars are just a taste of what New York has to offer, to see the full spread, check out our gallery.
