We covered the release of the device a while back (you can check out our previous article here), but when we heard about what ZyXEL said the device could do, we needed to give it a try ourselves. Each model in the L'Amour Collection offers a beautiful mix of contrasts - infusing cultural and ethnic influences with luxurious touches of the unexpected. Dual screen display from a single unit

Dual screen display from a single unit

October 6, 2005 Japanese in-car entertainment equipment manufacturer Fujitsu Ten has a great concept about to hit the stores (alas Japan only) in the form of a dashboard entertainment and information display with one screen but different visuals and images when viewed from different angles such as the drivers seat and the passenger seat. Logically, the driver will be wanting to look at navigational displays and other informational aids from time to time, so the dual display enables the passenger to watch a movie or do something entirely different – at least the choice is there. The clever screen was developed by Sharp and we can’t think of too many other situations where it’s likely to be used other than in an automotive sense. Toyota has inked a deal that makes Fujitsu Ten OEM supplier for all its in-car screens and has already begun offering the dual screen functionality in japan, so we’re tipping it’ll be standard on future Toyota models across the world. Two viewing angles isn’t the end of it all - there’s also a digital TV tuner which ensures a stable picture even when traveling at speed and a 30Gb hard drive, so you won't run out of space for MP3s this lifetime. The US$25 video business card (and promotional giveaway, and gaming device, and ...)

About the size of a credit card and not much thicker, the introduction of the US$25 rCard is quite an important step in the evolution of disposable, giveaway and promotional items. Streaming video and audio are just the start – it can be password protected, can release time-sensitive data and it can be fully interactive as in addition to the screen and speakers, there’s a navigational button. So while we’ve used the video business card as an example in the heading, the rCard offers much more – it is cheap enough and powerful enough to justify distributing to a qualified prospects of high-ticket items and innovative enough to ensure it will be watched again and again. And the scope for innovative competitions, sweepstakes, membership sales tools, best customer reactivation ad infinitum is almost endless – almost every industry has an application for the this disposable technology - travel, automotive, hospitality, promotional, financial, health, biomedical, gaming, and fitness. Solar-powered handbag lights up inside and charges your cell phone

Solar-powered handbag lights up inside and charges your cell phone

September 27, 2005 Time waits for no-one and no object - the ever-quickening march of progress looks set to reinvent the humble handbag by adding solar power and an electroluminescent lining which lights up when unzipped. It also has a battery which can store the power eeked from the solar system and hence it can charge mobile phones and and other personal electronic devices. The handbag, called Sun Trap, uses a solar cell to trap energy from sunlight, storing it in the bag’s internal battery. When the bag is unzipped, the lining, powered by the battery and made from an electroluminescent material similar to that found in mobile phones, lights up helping them to find items lurking at the very bottom - for example, house keys. The lining goes dark automatically as the zip is closed or switches off after 15 seconds to conserve battery if the bag is accidentally left open. (read more...)
