By the time Evora reaches Lotus showrooms from March 2009 onwards, it will be the most thoroughly tested car in the history of Lotus. It will also be one of the company's great milestones. The order book is now open in the UK and across continental Europe, with markets around the world to start taking orders in due course. Final specifications, options and prices of the production Lotus Evora will be published closer to the sale date in the many global Lotus markets including Australia.

Mike Kimberley, Chief Executive of Group Lotus plc sums up: "This year Lotus celebrates its 60th anniversary and it is fitting that 2008 is also the birth of the Lotus Evora, a fantastic addition to the Lotus range. The Lotus Evora represents Group Lotus, a company that is at the forefront of the automotive industry, in a changing world where priorities of efficiency, economy and environmental impact go hand in hand with performance, design and individuality. I think Colin Chapman would have approved.

Drive The New Lotus Evora On Playstation3

In a hi-tech twist, Lotus fans will find it easier to test-drive the brand new Evora than ever before, thanks to the car's inclusion in a special demo of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue™ on PlayStation3.

Lotus has a long-standing relationship with Polyphony, the game's Japanese developer, with Lotus cars appearing in each release of the Bafta award-winning Gran Turismo series. Now, thanks to the new title's unprecedented realism (enabled by the ultra-powerful PlayStation®3 system), Gran Turismo drivers will find their virtual ride in the new Lotus Evora to be startlingly similar to the real thing giving Lotus fans a taster of what to expect before the full sized Evora is available to test-drive for real in Spring 2009.

Polyphony's digital model of the Lotus Evora was unveiled simultaneously with the car at the British International Motorshow in London last week where fans could try their hand at the game via a demo pod situated on the Lotus stand for the duration of the show.

Polyphony has worked closely with Lotus so Evora's exterior and interior is modelled for incredible realistic reproduction within the game.

Mike Kimberley, Group Lotus CEO remarked, "We are delighted to join forces with Sony Computer Entertainment and Polyphony once again on such a special occasion for Lotus. The launch of the Lotus Evora is a milestone for us and represents a new and exciting phase of our development. I'd like to thank the Gran Turismo team for organising this outstanding addition to our exhibit at the British International Motorshow and hope guests enjoy the first ride in our Evora, albeit a virtual one."
