Logitech has introduced its Bluetooth mouse, which is billed as being made for Android tablets
Image Gallery (11 images)Tablet users who want to utilize their tablet PCs as desktop workstations would no doubt appreciate an Android-tailored wireless mouse. Announced this May, the Logitech mouse for Android 3.1+ is now available for purchase online, and joins the previously-launched tablet-oriented physical keyboard.
Logitech Tablet Mouse for Android 3.1+
The blue Logitech mouse is billed a "first-ever mouse made for Android tablets," although it doesn't come with any tablet-specific functions. Its range is up to 30 feet (9.14 m), an operating distance that probably won't be required by many users. The mouse's specifications sheet says it's compatible with Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) or later. Powered via two AA batteries, the Logitech Tablet Mouse for Android 3.1+ features two buttons and a scroll wheel, and comes with a protective pouch. It is priced at US$49.99.
Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+
Compatible with devices running Android 3.0 or later, the Logitech keyboard utilizes Bluetooth connectivity (up to 30 feet / 9.14 m) and is powered via four AAA batteries. It comes with a carrying case which doubles as a tablet stand. The Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+ is priced at US$54.99 via Amazon.
Tablet (screen) mouse keyboard (all for around 800$). Doesn't it begin to look like... a laptop? Next step a Bluetooth DVD drive?

Tablets now have a mouse and a keyboard. Seems the 'finger' functionality just isn't upto the task anymore, or just a cute fad?
Buy a netbook if you want all that!

And how is this useful again?
I have a Logitech wireless trackball (one of the approximately two designs offered by Logitech, and one of about four in existence). The thing has a realistic range of about 7 feet on a good battery, isn't Bluetooth, requires a different adapter than my Logitech wireless keyboard... you get the idea.
Here's a real piece of innovation that will sell: create a new trackball, or something else that actually works for remote users (people sitting more than 3 feet from their screen). Nintendo, and the popularity of the Kenect have made it pretty clear that the status quo doesn't work for a lot of people and that Logitech should be bringing new innovation to old devices, not old innovation to new devices.

What a load of nonsense. Android 3.1 supports USB input devices. That means all your PC mice will work here just fine. I guess LT has a bunch of Bluetooth mice in stock they need to get rid of.
