Logitech's latest webcam offering is its first Mac-compatible model to feature autofocus technology and Carl Zeiss optics.

The USB plug-and-play unit features a built-in microphone and a 2 mega-pixel sensor that delivers VGA-quality video at up to 30 frames per second when used with iChat or Skype and records HD-quality (960-by-720 pixels) video and 2-MP still photos.

Auto focus is via a voice coil motor instead of a stepper motor, meaning crisp operation even in close-ups only 10 cm from the camera lens according to Logitech. Image clarity is also boosted by the company's "RightLight™2 Technology", which adjusts automatically to dim or harshly backlighted situations.

Measuring 3.54" long x 1.57" wide x 1.26" high (including clip) and weighing 6.17 ounces, the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam for Mac should hit shelves in the U.S. and Europe early next month at around USD$130.
