August 5, 2008 If you thought Meridian’s MF10 projector, which we looked at earlier this year, would put some pressure on the finances with a MSRP of USD$14,995 then we recommend steering clear of Meridian’s new flagship front projection system. The Meridian 810 Reference Video System comprises the D-ILA based 810 Reference Video Projector and the 810 Reference Video Scaler designed to optimize both High and Standard Definition inputs.

The system is capable of a resolution of 4096 x 2400 - that translates to 9.8 megapixels - thanks to three specially calibrated JVC D-ILA chips for independent processing of red, blue and green channels and the scaler which connects four 1080p scalers together via DVI connections to convert the digital source (480i to 1080p) up to 9.8 megapixels. Powered by a PKI Xenon lamp the projector can deliver up to 4,000 lumens and a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1 while the scaler employs Qdeo processing technology.

The Meridian 810 Reference System which includes the 810 Reference Video Projector and the 810 Reference Video Scaler Four will be available with one of four different lens packages that are optimized for different installations for US$185K. They will be available before years end in a limited quantity.
